MORE than one million Pfizer doses have arrived in Australia and more shipments are expected soon.
Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said the precious cargo was ready to be rolled out.
According to Metro South Health information, a total of 10,295 people have been vaccinated at Capalaba Place and 2663 at Redland Hospital.
Queensland recorded one new local COVID case today, sparking health alerts on the Sunshine Coast, in Brisbane and in the far north.
The fully vaccinated student returned home from Melbourne and has been infectious in the community from July 15, and likely until July 17.
More than 10 million vaccine doses have been administered in Australia, with 13 per cent of the adult population fully vaccinated.
Capalaba resident Amy Glade said she was finding it difficult to book a Pfizer shot.
"I called my local Capalaba GP to make enquiries," she said.
"I was informed they only supplied the AstraZeneca vaccine, and due to underlying medical problems, I will not risk being jabbed by this particular vaccine.
"I will have to leave protection from the virus in the hands of God."
Some over 40-year-olds have been waiting weeks for a booking after registering on the Metro South Health website.
Bowman LNP candidate Henry Pike encouraged Redlanders to get their jabs.
"Australia's vaccination capacity is about to skyrocket and any locals who have found it difficult to access a convenient appointment recently should try again over the coming weeks," he said.
"New clinics and appointments are being added all the time."
Mr Pike received his first vaccination dose last Saturday at Capalaba Place.
He said 1300 extra GPs across Australia would be coming online this month to deliver the Pfizer vaccine.
If you are aged 40 years or more you are eligible for vaccination. If you are aged 16 to 39 years you may be eligible for a vaccination depending on your circumstances.
All GPs participating in the vaccination rollout can be found through the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder at www.health.gov.au/resources/apps-and-tools/covid-19-vaccine-eligibility-checker.
