Multiple fire crews, police and paramedics were on scene shortly after midday.
Very little of the house remained standing but everyone on the property had been accounted for.
Acting inspector Chris Griffin said it was not known at this stage what had caused the blaze.
"The house was well involved in fire (when crews arrived) and we've got a full structural collapse," he said.
"As per all of our fires, especially when it comes to a house that is fully damaged, we will investigate all fires in line with our policies and Queensland Police."
Mr Griffin said it normally took about 30 minutes to contain a house fire but it took several hours to put it out completely.
He urged people to prioritise fire safety.
"Have escape routes for your house and always make sure your smoke alarms are working and comply with the current legislation," Mr Griffin said.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire was under control at 12.20pm.
Eight fire crews were on scene at the time.
