Shop owners are scrambling to assess the damage after a fire gutted a building in Old Cleveland Road this morning.
It has been a nightmare morning for commuters in the Redlands after police closed Old Cleveland Road in both directions after a fire gutted shops on the strip.
Thoroughfares surrounding the area including Rickert Road at Thorneside and Vienna Road at Alexandra Hills, Redland Bay Road and Broadwater Road at MacKenzie are carrying major traffic loads.
Fire crew and police are still on the scene of the fire and the incident is being treated as a crime scene.

Firefighters are battling a blaze in Old Cleveland Road, Capalaba after a fire broke out at a shop in the early hours of this morning,
Police have closed Old Cleveland Road in both directions from the intersections of Moreton Bay Road to Redland Bay Road and diversions are in place causing major delays.
Motorists are urged to find alternate routes and drive with caution.
Police and emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at a Capalaba chemist around 4am and discovered the building was ablaze.
Early information indicates a number of neighbouring businesses have also been affected.
Multiple fire crews are working to bring fire under control.
Smoke is impacting local suburbs and roads, with some road closures in place.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics are on standby at the scene.
Police have declared a crime scene, and an investigation commenced into the cause of the fire.
According to police no one had been harmed in the incident, however, extensive damage has been caused to the building.
