Detectives have charged a 30-year-old man following an alleged altercation in a Birkdale home last Friday.
Police will allege at 9.30pm an altercation broke out at a Kensington Place unit between two neighbours, a 32-year-old man and the 30-year-old man.
When police arrived they found one of the men with wounds to his head and back.
A man who resided at the address was apprehended by police and charged with wounding and assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on November 9.
Investigations are continuing.
