QUICK action from the police chopper and dog unit led to the arrest of a man after he tried to outrun officers at Thornlands.
Police said that at 5.20pm yesterday, a man was allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road in rush-hour traffic.
He then pulled over in a grass ditch on Panorama Drive and jumped out of the vehicle.
"The man allegedly fled the vehicle and jumped a nearby fence into a residence," a police spokesman said.
The dog unit and Polair searched for the man as he made his way into the bush at Kinross Road estate.
Residents gathered in the road after hearing police on loud speakers ordering the man to give himself up.
Dog unit officers apprehended him.
An Alexandra Hills man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving unlicensed, obstructing police and trespassing.
He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on November 30.
A month ago, Thornland residents complained of youth crime issues, including vandalism, shoplifting, street fights and motorbike racing.
