Wet weather has cast doubts over the Australian cricket team's Ashes warm-up at Wellington Point, which is due to start tomorrow.
Last week the English team played weather-interrupted intra-squad matches at Peter Burge oval. This week the Australian players will spend three days in the Redlands, from Wednesday to Friday.
The team will play an intra-squad warm-up match as a prelude for the first Ashes test at the Gabba on Wednesday, December 8.
Redlands Cricket president Sean Lloyd said the grounds were a little wet but would dry out fairly quickly.
"However, if the rain continues this afternoon and tonight, it will be touch-and-go," he said.
"Thursday and Friday are looking better according to the weather forecast."
The Alexandra Hills weather station recorded 31.6mm rain last night, with more falling this morning.
Lloyd said he was expecting a crowd of local supporters at the grounds.
"We had a constant stream of spectators when the English cricket team was with us last week, even if for the one day," he said.
"From my experience crowds for Australian practice as such can be three to four times larger so, yes, we are expecting the locals to take advantage of seeing the Australian Test squad up close."
He said COVID-19 restrictions would be in place, but it was up to the players on how they would interact with fans.
If he plays, it will be the first hit-out for new skipper Pat Cummins, after the fast bowler was chosen as the 47th Australian captain on the weekend.
His selection came after Tim Paine was stood down over a sexting scandal.
Cummins' deputy will be Steve Smith who had been stood down over a cheating scandal.
Practice play will begin each day at 10am.
