CLEVELAND District State High School student Charlotte Johnstone is set to represent Australia in the Trans Tasman trampolining event in Christchurch in October.
The 13-year-old has landed a great season culminating in her selection following the National Championships in Melbourne, where she won five medals, in August.
Charlotte, who trains at Redland City Gymsports Club, is the youngest competitor in the double mini team and will also take part in the under 15 tumbling event.
She also won a gold and a silver medal in two events at the Queensland Levels Trampoline Sports Championships held at Carrara in August.
Earlier this year she placed second in the youth international trampoline and first in the double mini and tumbling events at the Queensland Age Championships.
Charlotte said she was very excited about her selection.
“Next year I hope to make the Australian team that goes to the world championships,” she said.
Coach Melanie Tonks said she was pleased with the results of the Redland City Gymsports Club at the Queensland Levels championship.
Charlotte Johnstone came first in the youth international trampoline event and second in youth international double mini trampoline, while Liam Costigan came first in the level 5 trampoline event.
Kate Johnstone came third in the level 3 tumbling.
The club will also send a team to the National Clubs Championship in Bendigo in September.
