COLOUR, music and atmosphere will be injected into Raby Bay Foreshore Park when up to 300 nippers battle it out for sporting glory.
The fun is all part of the second annual Kozii Iron Challenge, which will be held this Saturday, December 16.
Event co-ordinator Nick Marshall said Raby Bay’s calm conditions were ideal for junior competitions, with up to four similar events planned for the Gold Coast earlier this year cancelled due to rough surf.
“Because Raby Bay is not affected by large swell, it gives all the kids the chance to participate,” he said.

The tranquil conditions have also meant children riding larger boards can also compete, with under 14s events added to this year’s lineup for the first time.
Mr Marshall said awards would be handed out to competitors from noon after morning races.
“The male and female who accumulate the most points in their age group receive the inaugural Kozii Ironperson Challenge age champion trophy,” he said.
Mr Marshall said up to 30 Surf Life Saving Queensland clubs would be represented at the event, which offered fast paced action.
“This format of racing offers fast, continuous action with plenty of colour, music and atmosphere to a sport that traditionally relies on numerous events run over one or two days,” he said.
Last year, 25 nippers from Point Lookout Surf Life Saving club competed in the challenge.
