SHARON Burns’ efforts to dig through leaf litter with her grandson has ended the search to find a Redland Bay blue diamond ring.
The game was launched last month by Angela Hampton as a way to promote the opening of her store.
Ms Burns found a small, pirate’s treasure box filled with pearls and other bounty under a ghost gum near Redland Bay Golf Course.

A small note was inside saying she had won.
“It was under the leaf litter and we were ferreting around,” she said.
“I was sure someone would ask up what we were doing climbing trees, searching under park benches and looking under ricks along the water front.
“But then it happened. There it was, under the leaf litter of the huge ghost gum on the waterfront and we could not believe it.”
Ms Burns said she and her grandson left the scene quickly after finding the box to not distract those nearby searching.
She said she guessed where to look after teaming the word “beach”, spelled out by five letters released throughout the game, with the word “ghost”, which was the answer to the previous week’s riddle.
”I am so thrilled and excited to be the one who found the treasure,” she said.
Ms Burns said the ring would become a family heirloom and worn only on special occasions.
Hampton Fine Jewellery and Design owner Angela Hampton said she was thrilled Ms Burns had won.
“She was hunting for five weeks solid,” Ms Hampton said.
Hampton Fine Jewellery and Design is at Red Edge Shopping Centre, 30-32 Cypress Street, Redland Bay.
