A REDLANDS church is helping to stock the pantries of those struggling to afford food.
St Anthony and St Luke's Catholic parishes spokeswoman Amanda Mase said tonnes of non-perishables – like instant noodles, coffee and soup – had been collected throughout the past nine years to help the needy.
The work was all thanks to volunteers, including Elaine Strati and Maria Jones, who had helped co-ordinate the effort under the direction of Father Emmanuel Aguiyi.
Ms Mase said thousands of items, including personal hygiene goods, had again been collected this year for drop off to bayside charities Rosie’s, BABI and Night Ninjas.
“This year we have added Night Ninjas, a new Redland-based charity to the list of charities in which to assist,” Ms Mase said.
“The items will be collected by the above mentioned charities this coming Thursday morning and distributed among their needy.”
