A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said the upgrade project had progressed from design to tender phase.
“Tenders have now closed and we are currently evaluating tender submissions,” the spokesperson said.
“We are expecting a contract will be awarded in the coming months with construction to start soon after, weather permitting.”
Plans for the relocation and upgrade of the bus station were put out for comment two years ago.
Then assistant transport minister Glenn Butcher said in May last year the new station would give people better access to a wider range of community facilities and reduce travel time.
The station is to be built on vacant land on Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, between Bunker Road and the Victoria Point Shopping Centre access road.
According to the Translink website, services will run as normal at the existing bus station on Bunker Road until the new station is open.
“Once a new facility is in operation there will be changes to timetables,” the website said.
