“WORK hard, play hard” could soon become the team motto for Redland Hospital nurses who have signed up to play netball after-hours.
The fun is all to relieve stress while getting active with colleagues for sport.
Nurse Lynne Sneddon said the game had also helped surgical ward nurses to know each other better, helping to maintain a positive work environment.

“Not only do we work together, we want to spend our time socially together too,” she said.
“It provides a platform for staff to get to know each other on a personal level. Often the person we are at work is different to the person we are at home.
“The health and wellbeing benefits are also advantageous.”
Team members include Larissa Dunn, Catherine O’Driscoll, Jordan Wisely, Kate Acason, Melanie Ackroyd, Jennifer O’Gorman, Rhianon Avis and Lynne Sneddon.
Other staff in the hospital’s emergency department and women’s and children’s services teams are also invited to join the team.
Games are played at Victoria Point’s Action Indoor Sports.
“Last week was our first game and we were beaten 40-13 but it was great fun none the less,” Ms Sheldon said.
“I’ve been keen to start a netball team for a long time but RN Larissa Dunn got the ball rolling.”
