BOATIES can earn their VHF radio licence in a three-hour lesson offered by Redland Bay Coast Guard.
The Australian Waters Qualification radio course will be delivered on Saturday, February 23 at the RBCG base at Meissner Street, Redland Bay.
Instructor John Josefski students would learn basic radio operation, emergency procedures, digital selective calling and how to use an EPIRB.
He said people who used a VHF radio up to 12 nautical miles offshore needed a licence.
“Under the regulations all operators of VHF radios must be licenced to use them,” Mr Josefski said.
Mr Josefski said students must pass a theory and practical test.
The course is $70. To register, contact Mr Josefski on 0400 075 429.
