ORMISTON College has received eight Australian Education Awards nominations across curriculum, school and staff categories.
The school has been nominated as finalists for non-government primary and secondary school of the year, best use of technology, and innovation in curriculum and learning environment design.
Principal Brett Webster has also been nominated for an individual award.
Ormiston College and Sheldon College were the only Redlands schools selected as finalists, with Ormiston receiving more nominations than any other school in Australia.
Mr Webster, whose tenure as Ormiston College principal has spanned 14 years, said the school's centre for learning and innovation would prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow's workplace.
"Gone are the days where knowledge and industry-specific skill-sets are required for a structured career for life," he said.
"The world has experienced a rapid acceleration in digital technology.
"The most effective schools have the capacity to respond to these shifts, re-imagine the learning process and ensure that students are future ready.
"Whilst we cannot predict the future with precision, it is our responsibility to guide our young people...and arm them with the necessary tools required to cope with the dramatic changes that will occur over the course of their lifetime."
Mr Webster said the school had developed a unique teaching and learning framework that focused on the development of 21st century skills.
"This has empowered and motivated our teachers to leverage the power of technology to enhance learning," he said.
"As new and emerging technologies such as augmented, virtual and mixed reality...gained a foothold in education, our strategy has been on harnessing the complex nature of this disruptive technology in a way that supports and enhances our current practices.
"...We have moved beyond being just the consumers of this technology, to empowering students to become 'design architects of the future'."
Ormiston College were recognised at the 2018 Australian Education Awards, winning best use of technology.
Mr Webster said he was proud of the leadership, strategic planning and teamwork that had led to finalist nominations at this year's awards.
"I know that our submissions for such things as these awards tell the story of the educational priorities we lead and influence, the strategies we implement and the many wonderful people and programs that I work through as a leader to transform the school," he said.
"I have a great deal of pride in the way our team has shaped the Ormiston College that we know today, and at the same time, influenced the future of education in Australia and beyond".
Mr Webster was a finalist in the principal of the year category at the inaugural Australian Education Awards in 2018.
He is one of seven principals nominated for the award this year.
The Australian Education Awards will be held on Friday, August 16 at the Dockside Sydney.
