SIRROMET Wines has won bronze in the tourism wineries, distilleries and breweries category at the 2019 Queensland Tourism Awards.
After years of trying, the Mount Cotton winery got their name on the winners list alongside perennial champions Bundaberg Rum Distillery and Sarina Sugar Shed.
Sirromet general manager Rod Hill said the business was proud to be recognised for their commitment and contribution to the tourism industry.
"We attribute this significant achievement to the commitment and dedication of our staff, who continually strive to deliver tourism excellence across all aspects of our business each day," he said.
"The awards are a wonderful way to recognise and reward excellence, as well as provide a benchmark for best practice within the industry."
Springwood MP Mick de Brenni said a strong campaign led by locals got Sirromet over the line.
"Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign to get Sirromet Wines on the podium at the 2019 tourism awards, mostly because it backs in local jobs," he said.
"The 152 team members at Sirromet have been working incredibly hard and it's paying off.
"It's bronze this year and no doubt gold in 2020.
"Our entire community is incredibly proud of the team at Sirromet, which is why I'll be backing them in...so they can keep on delivering tourism jobs here in Mount Cotton."
