A YOUNG father of two will contest the Redlands seat for the Liberal National Party at next year's state election.
Henry Pike has been charged with helping to return a LNP majority government on October 31.
LNP leader Deb Frecklington welcomed Mr Pike's endorsement.
"Henry will be an outstanding representative for Redlands and deliver action to reduce hospital wait times, improve education services, and create the jobs the region needs," Ms Frecklington said.
"The bayside has stalled under Annastacia Palaszczuk and local Labor MPs have failed to stand up for their communities.
"The Redlands can't afford another four years of being bogged down by Labor.
"There is no one better to represent Redlands than Henry Pike and end Labor's neglect of the region.
Henry, a policy advisor at Property Council of Australia, is raising a young family in Redlands with his wife Kate.
Ms Frecklington said Mr Pike was determined to improve local health services.
She said Redland Hospital emergency department figures showed 29 per cent of patients were not seen on time and ambulance ramping was at 39 per cent - one of the worst rates in Queensland.
"The Redlands needs better local health services because the population is growing, and it's also ageing," Ms Frecklington said.
"Labor have been talking about upgrades and expansions at Redland Hospital for years but they have sold out patients by failing to match their promises with action."
Redlands MP Kim Richards said the LNP's hospital claims were not true.
"The LNP clearly have no idea of what is going on at Redland Hospital," she said.
"They should be aware that there is a $1.5 million business case underway for a hospital expansion, following on from the master plan completed in March this year that determines the necessary clinical and functional planning requirements to meet our community's needs."
She also refuted the claims that the electorate was bogged down under Labor.
"As the Labor Member for Redlands I have delivered more in 18 months than the LNP did in the last decade," Ms Richards said.
"Redlanders have seen more funding committed, projects both completed and underway for our roads, our schools, our hospital and our community at large."
