A Redland City Council candidate has pledged to improve transparency and infrastructure, and arrest climbing rates, should she be elected in March.
Junita Grosvenor will stand for election in the division 5 seat of Redland Bay and the Bay Islands.
She aims to bring relief for Redlands drivers who are struggling with congestion caused by small-lot developments.
"Our roads haven't been maintained properly. Road congestion is terrible," Mrs Grosvenor said.
"This has a domino effect from the mainland over to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.
"Our local roads in Redland Bay are atrocious."
She will strive to bring extended consultation on development projects in the area.
The Weinham Creek priority development area is a concern. Mrs Grosvenor said community consultation had been lacking.
"It's not like they haven't had enough time to consult with the community," Mrs Grosvenor said.
"Especially the stakeholders who are directly affected.
"We haven't been allowed to be part of the planning process.
"I want to bring real, face-to-face community consultation back to the decision making process, especially with the big issues.
"Weinham Creek PDA is probably going to be the biggest development to hit the Redlands, apart from the Toondah Harbour PDA.
"We haven't been shown a business case by the Redlands Investment Corporation. We don't know how much it's going to cost in the long run for Redlands ratepayers, and we have no idea about the timeframe.
"It's really not good enough. There's no real transparency on all the processes on this PDA."
Mrs Grosvenor said the plans lacked forward vision.
"No one is against well planned, thought out development, but none of this seems to be well planned."
She will also aim to arrest rising council rates.
"I'm worried that every year our rates seem to go up, but we don't seem to have a decent level of infrastructure support."
Mrs Grosvenor moved to the area 15 years ago, and believes she has the experience to do the best job for her constituents.
She has worked in marketing, sales and nursing.
"I have a lot of experience in different areas, and I understand the problems people have," she said.
