COUNCIL candidate Steve Morgan says he will bring a clear vision to the Redlands if he wins the division 10 seat at the local government election in March.
The former Bay FM music presenter said council had failed to address tourism and employment issues and were not giving Redlanders a future they could look forward to.
He said he had decided to run for Cr Paul Bishop's seat because of his concerns for council's decision making and to bring transparency to infrastructure projects.
"I would like the council to be able to explain more about their vision," he said.
"I think they are lacking in vision as far as what the Redlands should be like in 10 to 20 years time and giving the city that to look forward to.
"I know there are things they have written down but if you ask people who are living in the Redlands what is the vision for 2030, or some of the ideals that the Redlands should have, I don't think they are really aware of them."
Mr Morgan said councillors needed to have more say in what happened across the city, rather than focusing on their own divisions.
"They need to have that understanding together with a vision on what happens with the entire 10 divisions and not being guarding of their own territory," he said.
He said more pressure needed to be put on the state and federal government to show their commitment to Redlands infrastructure projects and transport development.
Mr Morgan said he would also push to secure green areas that could be used for parkland and lifestyle areas, particularly around Birkdale and Thorneside.
His candidacy comes after spending more than 15 years as a music presenter on local radio station Bay FM and in Logan on 101 FM.
He is currently a contributor to The Friendly Bay Islander newsletter and has been a real estate agent.
Mr Morgan said he and his wife also ran a church group which delivered food boxes to people in need and hosted community fundraisers and entertainment nights.
He said he had completed the state government's mandatory candidate course and was ready to serve the Redlands and his constituents in Birkdale and Thorneside.
