REDLAND MP Kim Richards will help spearhead the development of a job-creating hydrogen industry to ensure Queensland is at the forefront of the emerging industry.
This comes after Hydrogen Minister Mick de Brenni yesterday appointed two new hydrogen champions Mundingburra MP Les Walker and Rockhampton MP Barry O'Rourke to take over the roles in North and Central Queensland. This is the second year Ms Richards has been appointed to help achieve the government's vision for a hydrogen industry.
Ms Richards said she was proud to be reappointed as one of the three Queensland hydrogen champions.
"We have huge opportunity in a renewables future that creates good jobs and a better environment for future generations," she said.
It was also announced in Parliament this week that Ms Richards would be the chairperson of the Education, Employment and Training Committee as well as remain the chairperson of the War on Wrecks. She will also sit on the Ethics Committee in Parliament.
Queensland's hydrogen champions complement the hydrogen envoy and advisor in Japan Professor Masakazu Sugiyama, as well as Assistant Minister for Hydrogen Development and the 50 per cent renewable energy target by 2030, Lance McCallum MP.
