FOURTEEN Redlands Rays ladies and girls recently made history by being a part of the first ever Brisbane South Regional representative Little League and women's teams to play in a state competition.
The rain affected division two state friendship tournament was played at Banister Park, Hendra earlier this month.
The open women's team consisted of eight Rays ladies, two Redlands softball players and two friendship players from Murarrie and Townsville.

Under coaches Stephen Schneider and Greg Joce, the ladies recorded a resounding 12-3 win over the Gold Coast Pirates after a hard fought 12-15 loss against Brisbane North.
"Behind the stellar pitching by Emma Flatley and a great all-round batting performance, the ladies were able to chalk up their first win as a team," Schneider said.
"With many of the division two teams struggling with pitchers, it was an opportunity for our team to see what a difference throwing accuracy makes to the game.
"The smiles throughout the weekend spoke volumes about their enjoyment of the sport and how far they had come.
"The coaching and support staff could not have been prouder of the team. Well done ladies."
The twelve member Brisbane South Little League girls' team, under coaches Josh McDougall from Eagles and Jaeden Robertson from Indians, also included six Redlands Rays players.
The little league teams faced two stronger and much more experienced sides from Brisbane Metro and Gold Coast but managed to secure the bronze medal.
Coach Josh McDougall said it was a great learning experience for the girls.
"For many it was their first representative baseball carnival and they will really love playing with and against each other in future club and representative games," he said.
The women's league is becoming increasingly popular throughout the greater Brisbane area with a second 10 week short season scheduled to go ahead in the new year.
Redlands Baseball Club has already registered at least one women's team for the new season and the Rays Little League girls will continue to play in their mixed teams in the club competition.
