Police and locals are continuing the search for missing 26-year-old New Zealand man Jordan Kelly who disappeared in rough swells while surf-skiing with a friend last weekend.
Police have 16 vessels and three helicopters, as well as dive units and land searches searching the waters of North Stradbroke Island to Moreton Island on Wednesday.
Mr Kelly's family have arrived from New Zealand and friends and locals are helping with the search on land.
Rough swells from the weekend have eased through the week with winds of 13km/hour at Cape Moreton this morning.
Mr Kelly's friend Jack McDonald who was with Mr Kelly when he disappeared and paddled to shore last Saturday night has helped police in narrowing the search area for rescue crews.
Police said neither of the men were wearing life jackets and were in one of the mot dangerous bar passages in Queensland.
Mr McDonald told police the men ended up in the water when his ski started to sink, and Mr Kelly came to help. He slipped away after exhaustion set in.
Air and search rescue crews have been working since Saturday night, with the mission extended on Sunday, for any sign of Mr Kelly.
On Monday, Acting Senior Sergeant Mitch Gray said the search would continue until at least Thursday.
"As time goes on, certainly we become more and more concerned we're not going to have a happy ending to this scenario," Sergeant Gray said.
