A 22-year-old Capalaba man has been charged with drink driving after allegedly blowing almost three times the legal limit on North Stradbroke Island.

Police allege the man returned a reading of 0.144 after being pulled over on East Coast Road at Dunwich last Saturday.

Sergeant Darren Scanlan said the man made the decision to drive despite being severely intoxicated.
A total of eight tickets for traffic infringements were handed out in the seven days to Friday, June 18, with offences ranging from a child not wearing a seatbelt to unregistered driving.
The highest speed detected across the week was 101km/h in a 70km/h zone.
"For some reason people think if you are running late for the barge or ferry, it entitles you to speed," Sergeant Scanlan said. "Well you are wrong."
Thieves strike on Straddie
A Logan teenager will face court charged with stealing after a man had his possessions stolen on North Stradbroke Island.
Three teenagers were found with the man's belongings on Home Beach after he contacted police to report dropping his wallet at Meegera Place, Point Lookout.
Police allege the group denied seeing the wallet before they were caught.
The 19-year-old Logan man is due in Cleveland Magistrates Court this month.
Some property remains outstanding, including a brown leather wallet with the engraving Pedro.
"It is unfortunate this has happened as many lost items are handed into the station after being found by honest people," Sergeant Scanlan said.
"By providing a good description, officers quickly located the offender and ruined his day trip to the island."
