Dunwich man found with knife at pub
A 20-year-old Dunwich man has been charged after being found with a skinning knife in a North Stradbroke Island pub carpark.
Police allege the knife was found wedged between the centre console and driver's seat.
The man allegedly told police he was carrying the knife for self protection.
Four men were in the vehicle when it was pulled over in the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel car park at 9.35pm on September 20.
The 20-year-old was charged with possession of a knife in a public place and is due in Cleveland Magistrates Court next month.
Sergeant Scanlan said people who carried a knife risked having it used against them or in other knife-related crime.
"The choices you make can impact the rest of your life and have consequences for you, your family and your friends," he said.
