A Wellington Street and Panorama drive duplication project is the first of many upcoming projects to improve Redland roads in 2022.
The Redland City Council project aims to upgrade the north-south arterial link across three stages.
The first stage will see the road between Boundary Road, Thornlands and South Street, Cleveland duplicated.
Road works will begin early 2022 to be completed by late 2023.
The entire project is expected to take up to 10 years.

Stages two and three will duplicate the road from South Street to Bay Street and Russell Street at Cleveland.
LNP Bowman candidate Henry Pike said the federal government had committed funds to improve congestion and driver safety.
"A Commonwealth investment of $15 million will ensure that the intersections at Ziegenfusz Road/Panorama Drive and Panorama Drive/Wellington Street are upgraded to match this duplication," Mr Pike said.
"This will bring welcome relief for the thousands of commuters who get stuck along this stretch of road during peak times.
"Council have identified this project as a key priority to meet the future demands of our city, and I am pleased that the Federal Government has come to the table to make this happen."
The duplication project is also expected to create 140 jobs during the construction period.
Late last year the state government also announced Mount Cotton Road would receive a $1.5 million boost for long-awaited upgrades on the road notorious for crashes.
In 2021, there were 274 fatalities from crashes on Queensland roads, which is four fewer than in the previous year.
