SUPERFORMANCE custom car garage will host a fan event for 7 Mate show Rides Down Under Workshop Wars this weekend, giving motoring enthusiasts the chance to see a range of classic cars up close.
The Capalaba business has been involved in the show since the first season, with film crews regularly venturing into the workshop to interview the fabricators and view their latest creations.
The business was tasked with building two custom cars across the first two seasons but arguably their finest creation, a 1972 Mustang estimated to be worth more than $300,000, will be unveiled at the event this weekend alongside a host of other remodelled vehicles.
About 3000 man hours are said to go into the building of a high-end car like the Mustang and the public will be given an opportunity to participate in a vote this weekend to see how it compares to two classic cars built in Caboolture and Melbourne.
Producer Rob Fazzino said the show - which rates three times better than any other program in the 3pm Saturday time slot - was a homage to the fabricators working on custom vehicles in Australia.
"We come up once a month (from Melbourne) and film at Superformance for two to three days," he said.
"The biggest thing about the show is the skills of the fabricators. They are using this blend of the latest technology and old school boiler making skills to build these cars.
"They are building people's dreams and we are lucky enough to be able to make a show out of it."
Superformance owner Grant Malseed said the general public were invited along to see the team in action and get their face on television.
"We will have demonstrations of 3D engine and chassis scans, several trade stands and about 10 to 12 very high-end cars," he said.
"It is not a massive show in terms of numbers but it is very high in terms of quality."
Sheldon College will supply the food to hungry guests from their 97th Street van, which will sell American cuisine.
The event will run from 8am to 2pm on Saturday, February 22 in the business' car park at 539 Redland Bay Road, Capalaba.
Entry costs $2, with all proceeds to be donated to the Red Cross.
