VICTORIA Point songstress Aislinn Sharp has tapped into humans' need for connection in her new track, due for release next month.
The singer-songwriter's electronic pop single Phone is out on May 5, produced in collaboration with Melbourne's Pat Gabriel, also known as PattyBoomba.
Ms Sharp said she wrote pop songs to make people feel, move and connect.
"Inspired by the human need to talk and connect, Phone is about the energy, excitement and anticipation we might feel knowing that someone we care about is only a phone call away," she said.
"I gave myself a challenge with this song to take a minimalist approach using limited lyrics to build a song and tell a story that has a twist at the end.
"It's funny, I wrote this song before COVID but the need to talk and connect has been so relevant in the last 12 months."
The music video, which will debut on Ms Sharp's YouTube channel at 8pm on May 7, features parkour by Dim Pardilanan and beach scenes at the Gold Coast.
Ms Sharp is a registered psychologist and ambassador for suicide prevention organisation R U OK? and is passionate about helping musicians with their mental health.
In November, she released her single Unsung Hero about the paradox and experience of living close to people yet feeling isolated and alone.
Ms Sharp said she had big goals in the music and mental health spaces for 2021.
"When I released Matter last year I did it in a way that it could be made into a choral arrangement," she said.
"This year, I've been collaborating with Melbourne group Choir of Hard Knocks, so the aim is to have them do a performance for the one year anniversary of Matter in August.
"It's a reminder in the lead-up to R U OK? Day in September about the importance of checking in and having those conversations."
