Capalaba Lions Club delivered food supplies to the Redland Community Centre for residents in need last week with a new method to make the donation process easier.
Rather than donating money, club volunteers bought food items themselves.
They then packed and delivered the supplies to the Redland Community Centre where they will be distributed to locals.
Capalaba Lions Club member Christine Cuffin said members had not donated like this before but wanted to do it regularly after a successful drive.
"...We saw they were doing a call out for food supplies and thought about how we could make distributing food easier for the RCC.
"We bought the food items they had requested locally and donated them to the centre for people who are struggling to get food for themselves."
Capalaba Lions has supported the community since 1971 and celebrated its 50th anniversary earlier this year.
Members fundraise every Thursday at the Alexandra Hills shopping centre and every second Saturday at the Capalaba Park shopping centre.
"We always work to give back to the community, and we know just how devastating it is to see the global hunger and nutrition crisis impacting our local communities," Ms Cufflin said.
"The RCC is still looking for basic food supplies like pasta, cereal, milk, crackers and beans, so please donate if you can."
People interested in donating to the RCC can do so online, or supplies can be dropped off at the Capalaba office.
