TWO years after losing her cousin to suicide, Victoria Point singer-songwriter Aislinn Sharp will release a new single with a powerful message about mental health.
Matter, to be released on August 13, encourages people to reach out to others and ask them a simple but important question: are you okay?

Ms Sharp, a registered psychologist and R U OK? ambassador, said it was after her cousin took his own life that she decided to put pen to paper and work through her feelings.
"My song is to encourage people to have a conversation and connect with one another," Ms Sharp said.
"The whole point of the title is that it doesn't matter what you do, you matter regardless."
The song will be released just four weeks before R U OK? Day on September 10.
Ms Sharp said it had taken a lot of hard work to put everything together but she was happy with the final product.
"I feel like the fact coronavirus has happened now has really pushed me to get this out there," she said.
"The song has been a long time in the making and is very personal to me as an R U OK? ambassador."
Ms Sharp collaborated on the release with Brisbane-based record producer Stuart Stuart, whose credits include The Veronicas and Sheppard, and Melbourne producer Pat Gabriel (PattyBoomba).
A lyric video will accompany the release to help people learn the words and get the message out.
"As a song it will be emphasising the meaning of R U OK," Ms Sharp said.
